Words & Photos: Chris Cooper. http://crcooperphotography.wordpress.com/

As the 100 day count down is well and truly underway, I thought I’d give a boost to all those guys and girls who are busting their ass’s in the freezing back shed preparing their rides for this years Chopped Rod and Custom show.

Chopped 2012 was really inspiring, both as a spectator and a photographer. This was only my third year, however, it had grown ten fold. I was astonished at the turn out. Ask anyone who has been more than once, and they’ll safely say the event grows bigger and better each year, and 2012 was no different. One of the biggest changes was the plowed drag strip, which once it rained, turned into a slippery dip for bikes and cars. Amazing.

Rain, Hail or Shine, the event will be on each year and each year will have that exact weather pattern, and I personally wouldn’t have it any other way. See you in the mud!

Whenever he starts a new one, we cannot wait to see the end result, and then document it to share with fellow enthusiasts. We admire Adam’s mix of old school and new school, both in style and tech. His latest project, a 1951 Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe, is yet another masterwork of steel and petrol.”

“Andy Wickenheisser is afraid to drive his cars. More accurately, he’s afraid of what might happen when he drives his cars: Too many gawkers not paying attention to their own ride and causing problems when I’m out driving, he says, and its a big issue, as I’ve caused quite a few accidents unintentionally. It’s not just this car, it’s all of my rods. No surprise if you’ve seen Wickenheisser’s self-built collection that includes some pretty hairy street freaks. His last creation, a 61 Dodge Pioneer wagon dubbed Bad Gas, is one jacked-up, hellacious ride.

His new custom, this dome-top 63 Plymouth Fury, is more of the same, and then some. Exactly what we’ve come to expect from the man they call Wick. Gawkers, move over we want to go for a ride.”
